Glossary

Some fields in RTBS refer to abbreviations (such as OBL, ID) or words that can be hard to understand. This page is intended to help, but we will also keep trying to remove confusing terms as we update the system so it becomes easier and more intuitive for new users.

  • Activity Key: A unique system-generated identifier used by programmers or web developers to refer to a particular activity.
  • API (Application Programming Interface): A system that allows web developers to create bespoke booking websites which communicate with the RTBS Central Reservation System so that activity operators can design tailor-made booking pages to fit their personal style and branding.
  • Duplicate: A method of creating a new record from a similar existing record. To duplicate from a record, click 'edit' to access the existing record, update any relevant settings or fields, and click 'Save Duplicate' to create a new record with these particulars.
  • CRS (Central Reservation System): The 'operator' side of RTBS, through which an Activity Operator can enter bookings, print manifests, control their availability, update prices and maintain activity information.
  • GV: Gift Voucher.
  • ID: Name/Title. You'll see this throughout RTBS (i.e. Price ID, Master Schedule ID, etc).
  • Manifest: A list of bookings for a particular trip; most commonly printed and handed to drivers to tell them who needs picking up from where.
  • Non-Pax: The Non-Pax column on Manage Bookings gives the number of 'zero passenger count' units that have been booked for each trip. This commonly refers to units of items such as Picnic Lunches, Freight, or Photo CDs. See Pax Count
  • OBL (Online Booking Link): This is a term used to refer to the RTBS-powered booking pages that exist on most RTBS operator's websites. The OBL pages differ from API booking pages because they follow a set template and are relatively easy to create, as opposed to API booking pages which are more bespoke and require the expertise of an experienced web developer.
  • Pax: Passenger(s).
  • Pax Count: Passenger Count, i.e. the number of spaces that will be taken from trip capacity for each unit booked. Each Price Type has an associated 'pax count'. See Non-pax.
  • Promo Code: A special code that can be entered by a client to obtain a set discount on the normal purchase price of an item (or activity).
  • TMO (Trade Manual Online): The 'Agent side' of RTBS, through which booking agents can make live activity bookings with RTBS activity operators, or 'On Call' bookings with operators who use alternate systems.
